Curatorial Biography
Freddy Negrete is credited with bringing prison-style single-needle black & grey tattooing out of juvenile detention centers and into legitimate storefronts. Working with Ed Hardy and Jack Rudy, Negrete legitimized fine line shading and Chicano cultural imagery worldwide. He served as the primary technical tattoo consultant on Hollywood films including 'Blood In, Blood Out'.
